title page and contents
The monograph continues publication of the findings of the socio-economic survey The Present and the Future of Family in the Changing World. Family is the basic unit of modern society. The ongoing socio-economic transformation impact both family structures and intra-family relations. This requires not only an in-depth scientific analysis of the current changes but also development of a new research paradigm. Within the frames of the Russian scientific socio-demographic school founded by N.M. Rimashevskaya there is proposed a principle that changes the methodology of studying population with the account of transition from the macro-level to a family-based approach. The focus is on the issues of family values, labor strategies of Russians, gender, as well as attitude of the population to the socio-demographic policy. Among the authors are researchers from Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Vologda, Makhachkala, Syktyvkar, etc., and also from China. The book is addressed to a wide range of readers, including demographers, sociologists, economists – all those who are concerned with the issues of socio-demographic dynamics. We hope that it will be useful not only to experts, but also to representatives of different levels of government, business community, socially oriented non-profit organizations and media. The materials can be used in educational and teaching work.

title page and contents
The collective monograph presents the research results of the project Taganrog carried out during 50 years (1967-2016) on the initiative and under the guidance of RAS Corresponding Member N.M. Rimashevskaya. There is no analogue of this quasi-longitudinal Project in the national science.
The project goal was to study the dynamics of changes in the socio-economic problems and the quality of life of population, to analyze the impact of modernization processes on everyday life of people by means of households (families) survey in one of the typical Russian cities.
The project was carried out in six stages. Taganrog-I (1967-1968) was mainly devoted to family-based study of the issues of the population living standards. Taganrog-II (1978-1979) was aimed at comparative analysis ‘ten years later’, being supplemented with characteristic of population health. and Taganrog-III (1988-1989) — ‘twenty years later’revealed the socio-cultural features of life. Taganrog-III ½ (1993-1994) made it possible to examine new processes in development of the society, connected with the transformation of all spheres in the vital activities of people. In In Taganrog-IV (1998-2000) a special emphasis was put on gender issues. Taganrog-V (2014-2016) presents the final (for the time being) sixth stage of the Project. It was implemented with the financial support of RFBR (Project № 17-16-00132) and was of comparative nature with elements of novelty — assessment of the possibility of launching a participatory mechanism for raising the quality of life in Russia.
Comparison of the Taganrog studies from different periods of time made it possible to analyze many socio-economic trends and problems of the Russian society in the historical retrospect. Over the past half a century the Russian society has experienced societal transformation: it was transferred from the planned (Soviet) to a market (neo-liberal) social order. For society researchers — sociologists, economists, demographers, historians, the period of such profound changes is of special scholarly (fundamental and applied) interest.
We hope that the contents of the present monograph will help readers to gain greater insight into the thorny path of the post-Soviet development of Russia.

Public-private Partnership — the Basis of innovative Development and Security in the Transit Economy: Monograph/ Foreword and ed.: RAS Corr. Member V.А. Tsvetkov.Moscow. Economic Education Publishing House. 2017. 528 р. ISBN 978-5-7425-0186-2. DOI: 10.26653/2017/978-5-7425-0186-2.
title page and contents
The monograph discusses theoretical and applied questions of the institute of public-private partnership (PPP) related to the implementation of investment projects aimed at innovative development and economic security of both the transport and transit system of Russia and other public entities. The methodological basis comprises evolutionary and institutional theory, econometric modelling, system analysis, expert estimations and historical approach. Rich economic facts that illustrate important common and specific features of transit economy across various countries in different historical periods are given in the study. Special attention is paid to the Persian Empire, the Chinese Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Ottoman Empire, the Republic of Venice, Ancient Russia, as well as the entire region of Central Asia (CA) which is a natural bridge between the East and the West. Macroeconomic description of the main trends in transformation development of the post-Soviet economies as well as modeling of their evolution against the backdrop of integration and global instability are provided. The main internal and external adverse factors affecting volume of traffic freight within the territory of Russia are identified, analyzed and systematized. In particular, the study analyses ambiguous influence on the Russian transport and transit capacity (TTC) of the following factors such as Chinese project of the Silk Road Economic Belt (SREB), the disconnected policies of the member states of the EAEU in the field of transport infrastructure construction and cross-border transportation of goods and passengers, the effects of transit conflicts with neighboring countries and the EU member states. The influence of transit economy on both solving water and energy problems in Central Asia and providing stability and security in the region is paid special attention. Detailed analysis and economic assessment of the development of transit economy in Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, and other countries against the background of the implementation of infrastructure projects in Russia, the EAEU and Central Asia are conducted. The hypothesis about the necessity to establish national public-private company aimed at financing and implementing projects in order to develop Russian TTC is put forward and justified. The study points out interdependence of the PPP based investment projects developing international transport corridors such as “East — West”, “North — South” and “Europe — Western China”. Implications for the labor market situation, quality of labor resources, passenger traffic development, small (medium) business and employment in the Russian Federation are discussed. Scientifically proved recommendations for improving control methods of transit economy as well as a new evolutionary strategy for advanced development are formulated.
